Letter to dear sir, 1884, January 8.

Letter from Edward Bosqui in which he responds to an unknown writer's references to lithographic stone, which Bosqui says if genuine would be "worth more than a gold mine." He also includes a description of lithographic stone. On Bosqui Engraving and Printing Co. letterhead.

Edward Bosqui (1832-1917) was born in Montreal and arrived in San Francisco in 1850. He founded the Bosqui Engraving and Printing Company in 1863 and was an organizer of the San Francisco Art Association in 1871, and was also an accomplished painter. His home in Marin County, in which he housed a large collection of California art (including his own) burned down in 1897, and in 1906 the Engraving and Printing Company was also destroyed by fire.
